This is the fifth volume of the Harvard Chinese Language Series. It is designed to bring students with intermediate-mid language proficiency to intermediate-high/pre-advanced proficiency. The volume covers worldwide challenges and viewpoints under four broad themes: "Demographies and Perspectives," "Livelihood and Stratification," "Safety and Wellbeing," and "Progress and Prospects." Formal as well as colloquial language is introduced through thought-provoking texts in different styles, including news coverage, follow-up deliberations from different parties, and conversations with people from different walks of life.
