This is the eighth volume of the Harvard Chinese Language Series. It is designed to bring students with advanced-mid language proficiency to advanced-high proficiency. The volume introduces students to the rich Chinese literary tradition, covering significant works of both the pre-modern and contemporary eras—from essays and short stories to plays and poetry. Literary as well as analytical language is introduced throughout, and the volume offers students a taste of the styles and voices which have been appreciated by generations of Chinese readers and are redily recognized by all educated Chinese today.
